Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community located in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think it's an island that's west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to everything from the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is frequently referred to as her birthplace. However, she only was there for a brief period of time. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. At the beginning of her life she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inches." Once I surpassed my male counterparts then I stopped. Many former dancers turn into acting. In the instance of Brugel,, it was the result of a recommendation from her teacher of drama. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in school's annual play. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the annual school production. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
